Bad Lyrics, Bland Melody, Wretched Singing Voice August 18, 2010 Rudy Palma (NJ) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Christina Perri performed this song live recently. Is this really what the current generation thinks constitutes talent?
The lyrics are rife with elementary school-style notebook poetry that settle for cliches and shortcomings. It may sound raw and uninhibited, but that does not guarantee quality, and there is none here.
"You're gonna catch a cold from the ice inside your soul," she sings. "So don't come back for me. Who do you think you are?"
Triteness is the name of the game here: "I learned to live half-alive and now you want me one more time." Deep!
Comparisons to Carole King are absolutely outrageous. A song like this would never get on the radio in the 1970s. The melody is dime-a-dozen and the vocals are tuneless, off-pitch and hollowed-out.
The American record-buying public deserves better than this.
Refreshing, breathtaking, and engaging. August 18, 2010 Melanie Like other people who bought this song, I first heard this on So You Think You Can Dance (kudos to choreographter Stacey Tookey for finding this song/artist and campaigning for it to be used for her dance on the show).
The vocals are so strong and velvety. Christina Perri has an incredible and soothing voice. The song is beautiful, heartbreaking, powerful, and incredibly well-constructed.
I wish Christina Perri a successful career! If this song is a taste of her talent, then the music world has a lot to look forward to! It's so refreshing to see such a raw and talented artist on the way to "making it big."
song August 16, 2010 A. Jacobs I love the song. Also the price isn't bad. I heard the song on so you think you can dance and I just had to get it. It's my favorite song right now. It was also very easy to download using the amazon music thing.
GREAT SONG - ONE I WILL LISTEN TO AGAIN AND AGAIN! August 11, 2010 Daisy S (Hot Springs, AR) First saw this song on So You Think You Can Dance in July, 2010. Loved the song and seeing this song with dancers performing. I played it back several times and then downloaded it from Amazon. Love, love this song, it is a song most people can relate to. Waiting for more great songs for this artist.
Absolutely amazing!!!! August 6, 2010 Michelle Graham (Poulsbo, WA USA) I can listen to this song over and over. It made the itunes top 20 list THE DAY after it aired on SYTYCD! Top 20 without ever being aired on the radio (at that time)!! I love her youtube stuff as well. She has videos that she calls 'adventures' and you can see behind the scenes stuff of her and when the show requested her song. As well as other homemade videos and songs too... I'd go see her in concert.
